Microdosing Pure Psilocybin vs A Formula

Updated: Jun 14, 2021

Most individuals who microdose psilocybin do so in its most basic and pure form; either powdered capsules or small chunks of the plant. As interest and research in the field of microdosing psilocybin have grown, so have the various ways of experimenting with the practice. One of the most fascinating and promising trends involves combining the psilocybin mushroom powder with other medicinal plants and compounds to enhance and/or modulate the effects of the different ingredients. Since much of the effects of the psilocybin mushrooms predominantly involve the brain and the nervous system, many choose to experiment with combining the plant with other adaptogens and amino acids that support brain and nervous system health. Although there is currently no research in this space, anecdotal evidence is suggesting distinctions in the effects of microdosing psilocybin mushrooms alone vs combining them with other adaptogens. Nearly all my clients are utilizing adaptogenic formulas combined with psilocybin mushrooms to enhance the delivery and effects of the practice. Practitioners report enhanced and novel effects often not experienced with microdosing psilocybin alone including stronger onset and longer effects, an enhanced ability to focus, and strong energizing effects. Some of the most commonly combined ingredients involve other adaptogenic mushrooms like Lion's Mane and Ashwagandha. It is important to note that supplements can cause side effects, especially when combined with prescription medications. Always consult your doctor before starting a supplementation regimen.
